This study aims to deconstruct the History of the Banggai Kingdom: Between Glory, Historical Traces, and Traditions Eroded by Time. The research employs a library research method with a content analysis approach to examine relevant historical sources. The Banggai Kingdom, referred to as Benggawi in the Negarakertagama by Mpu Prapanca in the 13th century, was under the influence of the Singasari and Majapahit Kingdoms. Following the decline of Majapahit, the Banggai Kingdom expanded, establishing its center of governance in Tano Bolukan. The findings reveal that the historical sites, ancient structures, and inscriptions of the Banggai Kingdom provide strong evidence of its political and cultural dynamics and influence throughout history. Additionally, this study highlights various rebellions against the Sultanate of Ternate and Dutch colonial rule, as well as the process of Islamization in the Banggai Kingdom, which led to significant socio-political transformations. This research is expected to contribute to local historical preservation and serve as a reference for further studies in archaeology, history, and cultural anthropology. Furthermore, it explores the strategic role of the Banggai Kingdom in the spread of Islam in eastern Indonesia and the ongoing efforts to preserve traditions and cultural heritage amidst modernization and social change.
